  • Bronchodilators work within minutes to relax muscle tightness around your airways. That can use as an inhaler (rescue) or nebulizer.
  • you know if someone is having symptoms like an asthma attack, tell them to sit in an upright position and assist in using an inhaler or nebulizer to rescue them. Two to six breaths of medication should help to relieve their symptoms.
  • If symptoms may last long for more than 20 minutes, and the second round of medication doesn’t help relieve symptoms, emergency medical attention is needed.
  • If you regularly and frequently need to use quick-relief medications, you should ask your doctor about another choice of medication for long-term asthma control.

Long-term asthma control medications

  • Long-term asthma control medications are taken daily to reduce the numbers and severity of your asthma symptoms, but they didn’t manage the immediate symptoms of asthma.
  • Anti-inflammatories medication: it uses with an inhaler, corticosteroids that reduce inflammation and swellings.

  • Biologic therapy drugs. These are new injectable medications that may help people with severe asthma.

  • Inhaled corticosteroids.
  • Combination inhalers that contain both LABA and corticosteroid 
  • Long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs)
  • Theophylline.
  • Leukotriene modifiers.

In addition to using asthma control medications, you can take other steps to make yourself healthier and reduce your risk of asthma attacks. These include

Eating a healthier diet – Follow the diet chart given by your doctor. A balanced diet helps you to improve your overall health.

Maintaining a healthy weight – Asthma can worsen in people with overweight and obesity. Losing weight is also healthy for your heart, your joints, and your lungs.

Quitting smoking – Smoking is very harmful to your respiratory system. Cigarette smoke can trigger asthma and increase your risk of COPD.

Exercising regularly – Occasionally, an activity can trigger an asthma attack, but regular exercise will help you reduce the risk of breathing problems.
