How much should vitamin D take?
The suggested amount is 600 IU per day for adults under 70 and 800 IU for older adults. Up to 4,000 IU per day is generally considered a safe upper limit. However, doses up to 10,000 IU / day have not been shown to cause toxicity.
Generally, people consume vitamins at 400-800 IU / day or 10-20 micrograms. Daily intake of 1000–4000 IU (25–100 micrograms) is required to maintain optimal blood levels.
- Recommended daily allowance:-Infants:- 5.0mg
- Children:- 5-10 mg
- Pregnant women and lactating mothers: 5 micrograms (200 IU)
Serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D levels
