The following infections have been associated with Guillain-Barré:

  • Influenza
  • HIV and AIDS
  • Immune suppressive therapy
  • Cytomegalovirus, which is a strain of the herpes virus

Signs and symptoms of guillain-barre syndrome

  • Guillain-Barre syndrome often starts with tingling and weakness, beginning in the feet and legs and spreading to the upper body and arms.

  • Muscles pain
  • Diminishes reflexes
  • Unsteady walking or inability to walk
  • Difficulty with bladder control or bowel function

  • Low or high blood pressure

  • Changes in sensation

Management of guillain-barre syndrome

  • Immunoglobulin therapy: The healthy antibody from the Immunoglobulin from blood donors given to the patient.
  • Mechanical ventilation: For emergency respiratory and cardiac support.
  • NSAIDs(Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs): for pain control
  • NSAIDs( Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs): for pain control
