Food poisoning induced by parasites is not as well-known as bacteria, but parasites spread by food are still very dangerous. Toxoplasma is a parasite that is most commonly found in cases of food poisoning. It is commonly found in cat litter. Parasites live in your digestive system for years. People weakened immune systems, and pregnant women are at risk of serious side effects if the parasites live in their intestines.
Viruses
A virus can cause food poisoning. For example, the norovirus, also called the Norwalk virus, causes over 19 million cases of food poisoning each year. In rare cases, it can be fatal. sapovirus, astrovirus, and rotavirus bring on similar symptoms, but they’re less common. Hepatitis A virus is a severe condition that can spread through food.
